Christmas isn't far from the corner and many of us are waiting eagerly for it to come as soon as possilble.

2020 has been one of the most depressing years for decades and the new coronavirus rules could threaten much of the festive season.

But one thing was can look forward to is the Christmas dinner and all the amazing food that comes with that. Many supermarkets have already released their Christmas food plans that you can salivate over.

Soon, or if not right now, you might be eyeing up your favourites from a supermarket but you might be wondering when you can book and how early you should book.

Asda has already launched its Christmas delivery slots. In 2019, they were released on November 19 and November 13 for Delivery Pass customers. This year they have been released earlier and there. Christmas delivery and collection slots at Asda store are now open. The chain states that customers need to book a suitable time between 21 and 23 December to be able to shop the food in their. Well, we've looked at what some of the major supermarket brands are currently saying and when the spaces will open up and when you should book your slot.

Tesco

According to Tesco, delivery slots for Christmas is launching on November 13th for delivery saver customers and November 20 for non-delivery savers.

The Tesco website says: 'Slots fill up quickly so make sure you get a slot' If you think you're going to forget, you can add a calendar reminder so you can grab your food.

Asda

Asda has confirmed that its delivery slots will open on November 6 but for those with a delivery pass, you can pre-order your food on October 30.

The website says: 'Our delicious Food to Order range includes starters, mains, desserts and party foods, as well as a selection of vegan foods. Whether delivered to your door or collected from your local store, your festive feast will make it a Christmas to be remembered'.

Morrisons

Morrisons has yet to confirm when its Christmas slots will open. However last year, they opened on November 6 for delivery pass members.

It is unknown when the slots will open up for those without a delivery pass.

Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's doesn't appear to have said anything about Christmas delivery slots this year. However, the site is allowing you to order all your food in advance and then choose a collection slot.

The website reads: 'Take the stress out of Christmas with Sainsbury’s Food to order. It’s easy. Simply order your special Christmas meal or impressive Boxing Day buffet and leave the rest to us. We'll make sure it's ready for the big day, so you can enjoy the festivities'.

Waitrose

Waitrose has warned customers that delivery slot interest is 'high' and is allowing people to have a look at 'entertaining slots' which may indicate when they can get their food delivered.

You can order two weeks in advance for delivery.

Here are the latest updates for all the major chains…

Tesco

Tesco’s Christmas delivery slots opened on 13 November for people on its delivery saver scheme, and are now available to everyone.

Deliveries cost between £4.50 and £5.50, or you can choose to click and collect for £1.50.

There is a £4 surcharge for deliveries under £40 and click and collect orders worth less than £25.

Asda

Asda’s delivery slots are now online and available to book.

Some dates and times are fully booked, depending on your location, but if this is the case you should still be able to select the click and collect option.

Delivery costs between £3 and £5.50, depending on when you want your order to come.

There is a £3 surcharge for delivery orders of less than £40 and click and collect orders of less than £25.

Morrisons

Asda Delivery Slot Christmas Tree

Morrisons’ Christmas delivery slots opened on 25 November, and you can book for any date from 20-24 December, subject to availability.

Delivery costs between £2 and £7, depending on when you want your food to arrive.

Amazon Prime customers can get free delivery of they order their Morrisons shop through Amazon’s site.

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s schedule is as follows:

  • For delivery on 20 December, slots can be booked from 29 November
  • For delivery on 21 December, slots can be booked from 30 November
  • For delivery on 22 December, slots can be booked from 1 December
  • For delivery on 23 December, slots can be booked from 2 December

Sainsbury’s delivery pass holders will be given early access, which they should receive via email.

The supermarket charges £7 for delivery on orders under £40 and between 50p and £7 for orders over £40, depending on the slot.

There is a minimum order of £25. Click and collect is also available.

Waitrose

Waitrose’s Christmas delivery slots are now live on its website.

Delivery is free, but there is a minimum spend of £40. The same applies for click and collect orders.
